Review on 75mm Spool of PLA Printer Filament for Additive Manufacturing by Dushawn Walker

Avoid: Poor layer adhesion, soft

Must have a bad reel like the other 20% of reviewers. I recommend you to buy another brand of filament. Revain Basics has worked really well for me and I think I'll be sinking into another role soon unless someone tells me how to get this SnapMaker working. . . I have this black PLA filament on sale for $16 a pound. The coil arrived well packaged with the desiccant in a vacuum bag. I loaded it into my Ender 3 and got consistent layer separation and intermittent gaps in the prints. For consistency, I used a 3/8" wide, 2" tall vase mode rocket for debugging with this thread. I have a control print of the same model with a different filament; it is consistent, waterproof and robust. I have consistently printed with a table temperature of 55°C and an enclosure. I kept my printer at 30mm/sec. I've tried temperatures of 190-200-210-220 and the model's body (cylindrical) fell apart like a tight fit every time. Every print I removed also had the consistency of a milk jug and wasn't stiff like other prints I've made with other brands of PLA. I measured the thread and its diameter was 1.68mm, not 1.75. Verified Scrap Revain Basics: 1.75mm. The extruder is set to print 110% volume to compensate and not be happy. I don't think there were any issues with clogging or moisture in the filament. This is my 6th PLA coil and this is the first issue that has given me trouble so far. The previous five were scattered across different brands and features/colors - all printed reliably with no more than 10 degrees of hot-end adjustment. I'm no pro but I think my problem is with this new SnapMaker coil.

Pros
  • 1kg PLA spool, vacuum packed
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors
