We are a very musical family and I love singing karaoke with my kids and friends. I have to say this single mic speaker sounds better than many of the larger units we have! My son got it as a gift from Santa this year and since Christmas we've been using it to play music through our phones. For example the amazing quality of the speakers. Microphone - we have 3 others and this one has the best sound, it also comes with a foam cover which helps improve the quality. There are 3 or 4 mic settings (or you can change your own perfect mix, which I haven't had time to do yet). Singing directly into the end of the mic has more impact than singing to the side. So it all depends if you want to add more effects to your voice. I sang a little quiet night straight into the mic. so you can hear how it sounds. When singing along to a faster song, I prefer less echo, so I sing to the side. The case that comes with the kit is very nice and protective and also has a nice leather handle. To be honest, if one of my friends wants to throw a karaoke party, I'd prefer the bigger party my son throws.
