We bought this as soon as our baby could get up to put on the corners of our coffee table. The plastic is semi-rigid but soft enough to protect small heads from sharp wooden edges. Other, more caring parents may be more comfortable with softer, more comfortable foams or plastics, but I'm glad we chose this product over the foam products we were looking at because our child loves to chew on it. Imagine if with foam edges she would have ripped them apart within days - her teeth are sharp, sharp, like a chipmunk! So shelf life and chewability are definitely a plus. The adhesive strips have held up well over the past month, giving you extra options if you need to reapply them. My only complaint is that the stripes that come on the pieces don't go all the way to the inside edge. I recommend that you use some extra tape to add a little straight into the corner to make it more secure. All in all a great product, does what we wanted and its size is perfect for placing at the top and bottom of table corners.
