I had an outlet behind my headboard that wasn't being used and I didn't want to reach for it more than once to plug it in. Meet the Tripp Lite surge protector. The power cord was long enough to run a strip right over the side edge of my bed, allowing me to easily add or remove power cords. Since my house has outlets in the baseboard, I didn't need a flat end cap to prevent my headboard from staying flush with the wall when using an extension. You may need to look at other surge protectors if wall clearance is an issue.
