Terrible when syncing with laptop

I used to have two Acer monitors of the same type (a few years ago). You were incredible. Connect them to my laptop. Old! i can use them Unfortunately, one of them was knocked over and destroyed by my cat. I was happy to find this seemingly identical monitor. I'm so, so, so disappointed and frustrated. The monitor either doesn't sync to my laptop at all and shows "no signal" or it cycles through all sorts of sync options causing all my screens (the other monitor and my laptop) to flicker constantly with no connection. I usually spend 5-15 minutes each day getting set up. It used to take 5 seconds. If I dare leave my desk long enough for my laptop to go to sleep, that's another 5-15 minutes restarting, trying to fiddle with settings, trying to press buttons on the monitor, etc. I don't really know what works . It seems completely arbitrary. I bought it a few months ago and was too busy at the time to bother with these issues and traveled a lot so I was just working on my laptop (no extra monitors). Now that I'm back and on a more stable schedule, I'd love to take advantage of three screens, but there are days I just give up and just work with two or one laptop. What a disappointment!
