Apple has switched from a 30-pin connector to a Lightning connector, replacing docking stations, boom boxes and car stereos that typically used older connectors. Needed a way to connect a Lightning device to an older 30-pin connector and tried a wired adapter first. This works in some places and not others, and the case needs to be removed from the iPhone to allow the adapter to stand up. What if there was a way to wirelessly connect a 30-pin device to a newer iPhone? Well, that's what this Blutooth adapter promises! Just plug it into your ghetto blasters, dock, car stereo and automatically pair with your iPhone's bluetooth device and play music like before! This one came with no instructions, just in a plastic envelope. It was mechanically difficult to connect to the dock socket as the socket was pressed against the Bluetooth device case. When plugged in, it turned on immediately, indicated by a very small blue light. Flashing indicates a search is in progress and the car stereo will beep to indicate it is connected to the car stereo. It shows up as "iPhone Dock" in the Bluetooth phone list and connects easily, which is indicated by another beep and "connected" in the phone list. When you press "Play" the first thing that catches your eye is the softly playing music. This can be helped by identifying the adapter as stereo rather than headphones, but it's still a weaker output so stereo needs to be cranked up. Well played, with good accuracy. But a few minutes later there was a high-pitched whistle in the background, and then a hum. It might not be noticeable with the music on, but it gets boring quickly with a speech or a movie. Then, later, there was a lot of trouble putting it back together. For these reasons I cannot recommend it. returned today.
