Very thin plastic. But it's also very subtle what these cases can hold. This is NOT what used to come with memory cards. Not only is the plastic thinner and the hinges weaker, the entire compartment isn't as thick either. You can't carry a microflash with you like the old memory card holder. Some old memory cards won't even fit in. If you try this, the case will either not be closed or will be opened at the slightest provocation. Very bad product. While I agree with other reviewers that these little cases are very hard to find, I suggest you look elsewhere. Even for five euros this product is a waste of money.
