First you have to paint them first or they will look cheap. Don't use oil based spray paint like me, it burns holes in styrofoam tile and I messed up quite a few of those. I tried gluing some tiles with liquid nails but it didn't work so I tried Power Grab which stuck better. When they got there, they look good. But after a few minutes, they began to fall, taking pieces of the popcorn ceiling with them. So now I have huge popcorn holes in the ceiling so I need to remove everything before trying again. This is a huge project in itself that I wasn't expecting, so I'm disappointed. I hope these tiles end up looking the way I hoped they would and are worth all the work.
