Review on Thudner Group Inch Basket Small by Josh Payton

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Not only suitable for frying.

Bought as a "boil basket" and not for frying as I don't fry. I use it for dusting flour or breading before shallow frying, rinsing veggies, steaming or cooking veggies or potatoes, etc. For cooking, it's much easier to just remove the basket from the hot water when it's done rather than everything to be poured into a colander and the face is filled with steam. I also use it to make the best shrimp shrimp cocktail. Here's how: Fill the pot so that the basket is about 3/4 full of water, leaving room for the basket and shrimp without spilling. Place the pot on the stove over high heat. Remove the tails from a pound of thawed or fresh shrimp and place in a basket. This process brings the shrimp closer to room temperature for better cooking. But by the way, these tails serve no purpose other than adding weight and therefore cost to you. When the pot boils, put the basket in it. Fill a bowl with enough water to fill the basket halfway and add two handfuls of ice. When the pot boils again, remove the basket and submerge in ice water. Add another handful of ice. After two minutes, remove the basket and you have perfectly cooked shrimp.
