Review on Enhance Your Braking Performance with EBC Brakes FA196HH Disc Brake Pad Set by Adam Boesel

They were perfect for changing the pads on my Honda. The originals lasted 22,000 and probably would have lasted 5 more but they were already 20 years old so I was starting to worry about aging. They differ slightly from the factory pads in that the original pads were not two different pads like this, but one pad with four grooves. There is a disturbing phenomenon. I could hear a rapid ticking (almost a hum) when (and only when) I applied the front brake with my old pads. This is because the vent holes in my rotor are in contact with the leading edges of the pads. These new pads almost always make the same noise and even louder when I hit the brakes. I'm wondering if this could be due to the increased center play between the pad faces or maybe just the pads wearing out a bit more. When the brakes are off there is no visible friction so I'm more confused than concerned. We'll see how it goes after I've ridden it a few hundred miles. The bike seems to stop with less braking effort, so assuming the swarm of bees eventually subsides, that's a big win.
