I also bought this set primarily for clasps to complete the chain mail, but also wanted a chain for some chain mail decorated pendants. I had a few questions before purchasing that weren't addressed in other reviews, so I hope other people find this helpful. The clasps are smooth and shiny. I had no problems opening them or getting stuck. The product info doesn't say it's stainless steel, but it looks like it's stainless steel. The hole on the clasp easily fits an 18g SWG jump ring, leaving little space. The entire clasp is just over 9mm. The chain is very elegant. The 1, 5mm chain seems very thin which is what I wanted so it's great. The width of the chain corresponded approximately to the width of two sewing needles next to each other. It's really tiny. The product image did not quite match reality. It seems to me that the chain in the picture tapers towards the middle and gets thicker at the ends of each link. That's not the case. It is very durable. I couldn't cut it flush with the pliers that are on the end of the conical pliers I bought when I was trying to braid the wire. I'll have to cut the chain with scissors, so watch out for flying metal and your eyes. I was hoping to run a 20g SWG through the chain so I didn't have to use the included jumper rings. It is impossible. I also had some cheap 0, 8mm anodized aluminum connecting rings which I bought mainly for practice. because the lids are by no means salable, but also too big. The included 0.7mm rings fit very well, but they don't look like the sawn rings I use for jewelry. They are slightly twisted. Jump rings are the only downside I see with this kit, but you'll need them if you want to use a chain. The clasps fit my needs and the chain is strong and small.
