I use it to maintain humidity alongside a few small tropical plants that need it. For this purpose it is ideal. The larger one raised the humidity (I'm so very dry in Phoenix) from the high 30s to the high 40s/about 50s, but be aware that it's very local - about 4-5 square feet I think. The smaller one is also effective, but for a slightly smaller area. It could be effective for your bedroom if your head is only a few feet away from where you place it. Overall - great for something like what I described above, not effective at all when trying to increase humidity in your house/apartment. It's also a plus that they look like a cute little decorative item on a table no matter how effective they are.
