I'm finishing up my severe weather/earthquake kit and everywhere I've seen it actually recommends having a NOAA weather radio. I still had other check boxes for the hardware I wanted and managed to include some of them in one product. I wanted a rechargeable battery and a small flashlight, and these features happen to be included. I'm very happy with the features of this radio and just hope I never have to use a NOAA radio, but if I do I'm pretty much set. Note: the description mentioned that it was weatherproof. I haven't seen pictures of the ports, it's good to see that the USB ports and headphone jacks can be covered for safety.
