I have used magnetic wireless car mounts and chargers in the past and needed a few items. I wanted it to work great as a mount first and foremost, I've used way too many that just slipped off when going over railroad tracks, potholes, dirt roads etc and I'm amazed at that. He lived in Michigan with our terrible roads and never fell. The next thing I looked for was obviously uncompromising loadability, another win there. For reference, I am using an Apple branded leather case. It charges fast and fast so you don't have to worry about long rides or worry about fumbling with the cord while driving. Obviously the system is not completely wireless. You need to run a cable from the power supply to the device itself, yes. However, it can look TERRIBLE without the little power cord attachments. Fortunately, this article comes with four. Now my only word of warning. The instructions could include text to accompany an otherwise solid manual. A bit confused but managed to figure it out within 2 minutes or so. TLDR: With the MagSafe case, the mount is fine for both charging and holding the phone, but the instructions might be useful.
