Review on Rugged Ridge 11226.05 Elite Guard Kit, Black Tail Light for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK by Adam Tidd

I wanted to love them but there were problems

The first problem I had was that they weren't made right. The outer screws are threaded, but they didn't tap the threads on one side. The driver's side was threaded, but no holes were drilled on the passenger's side. The second problem I encountered is that in two hours of carving I could only get one bolt in three holes. Both holes were tapped, but I couldn't align the bolt enough to engage the threads. To be honest I have aftermarket headlights and maybe the holes for them aren't quite where they should be. If the bolt was beveled on the end I think it would go in, but they are flat and quite small. A pointed screw would work better. With that said, and it was very frustrating, I can get them to work. I'm going to use a tap to tap the threads on the passenger side and use a grinder to slightly bevel the end of the other bolt. Once assembled they look good and the powder coating makes them durable. They are durable, fully contain light and replace most of the plastic. I feel like these are the most durable of the tail light covers I've seen. The back half goes straight against the Jeep and the paint. It didn't bother me and I like the fact that it's an all steel cage. In the end I like the product but needs a little work on it. Either replace the screw or make a boss that screws into the funnel to guide the screw into the thread. The unthreaded part was also unsuccessful
