The interior of the shakers is unglazed and unsealed, so the salt and pepper will cake together

These shakers go well with our decor but are useless. When we received them, we ran them through the rinse cycle to thoroughly sanitize and dry them, then left them unplugged for a week before filling them up. When we filled them, salt and pepper immediately baked in them. When glazing, the inside also had to be coated so that the ceramics don't become so porous and absorb moisture. What waste!
