Review on πŸ’ͺ Enhance Efficiency with the Wilkins 34 70XL Pressure Regulator by Jay Matlock

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Backward compatible with a 25 year old part!

Bought a water pressure gauge and found my 25 year old Wilkins 34-70 regulator was no longer venting external pressure. The anti-freeze holes in our meter burst two summers ago when the water company was doing extensive work nearby. I'm glad that any excess pressure that may have been involved didn't blow anything up in the house. Whatever the reason, the pressure in the house is now 84psi (not that bad, but I'll sleep better knowing I have a working regulator). So I went online for a replacement and was pleasantly surprised to see that the same part number is still in production. I believe the internals are interchangeable but cannot confirm this. However, the castings are identical and the replacement took five minutes with an old threaded bushing I had just reused. Adjusted the regulator to 60lbs - great job done. Thank you Wilkins for not reinventing the wheel if you don't have to! And thank you for continuing to use quality bronze castings and stainless steel and buna rubber internals. Made in the USA - hooray!
