I was hesitant to buy this based on previous reviews but bought it anyway. First, when installed correctly, they are very strong, but you must do it the way they were designed. My friend who weighs 280 uses them with no sag. As for the earlier review that required the holes to be re-drilled, that's incorrect, the CJ Jeep tapers right where the steps fit, so with those different slots you can attach the step at a slight angle, one way for the driver's side, the other slot for the passenger's side. My 1962 model already has mounting holes in the frame. It can be installed on both driver side and passenger side, do not tighten the screws, match and mark the holes, drill and install. Then tighten everything. The hardest part is removing the fuel tank before installing it on the driver's side. Don't be told they're junk, they're fine as long as they're installed correctly. As for size, yes they are big, but that's the size that's been installed on Willys Jeeps since day one. So if you want to look right then this is what you need. good license
