They work very well leaving only a small nail hole. Although I have found the ones in the bathrooms to rust due to moisture leaving rust marks on the wall. Some of them, when used with a hook, burrowed into the wall about half the time, leaving additional marks. I'm not sure if it was because the nail was driven in too hard or at the wrong angle. I've had no problem with heavier frames falling off for whatever reason, I've used heavier hooks and nails for that as well. I like that there is a bit of a choice of nail and hook sizes.
