I use mine primarily for chicken breasts so my experience is only on the flat side but the spiked side looks like it works really well as the density and size of the spikes is impressive. I received a Williams Sonama meat tenderizer years ago, exactly the same as this one for years for Christmas unfortunately lost when moving house this meat tenderizer is almost identical the only difference is a very slight difference in the quality of the casting No way does not affect its functionality and only stands out when you really, really try to find it. With the price difference of the two items, it makes buying it an easier and better choice.
