For the extra $225 I was expecting more, stick with the regular G3, IR is better but not enough to justify the cost difference, the optical zoom capability was the reason why I bought this camera but the way it is designed makes it unusable for live viewing or even playback. Most of the cameras I've worked with use optical zoom first and then switch to digital zoom. This camera isn't, it's both. You'll need to go full screen, then edit, then zoom in and make sure the other settings allow the zoom to focus before you can use it. Why even need digital zoom when optical zoom is available? Mouse scrolling, slider should be for optical zoom, not digital. When you need to track something in real-time, it's neither easy nor quick. I believe the optical zoom works on recordings, but that's hard to test since full screen mode doesn't work in Chrome anymore. Ubiquiti has known about this for almost 2 years, their answer is patched in firmware from 3.10 which is still unavailable. Now I have to explain to the buyer why he can't scale 12x, 36x for the same price like a dozen other cameras he's familiar with. If you don't offer PTZ, optical zoom should work effectively.
