The inside of the suction cups is coated with a very sticky substance that I'm afraid will attract dirt in real camping conditions. I haven't tried them camping yet, but when I taped them to a very clean, flat fiberglass side panel of an unloaded RV, I was dismayed to find that they had all fallen off when I checked them three days later. . I carefully cleaned the surface and re-inserted two of them. Three days later, they both found themselves on the floor of a fenced-off store where a van was parked. During this small test the weather was in the mid 1950's so temperature changes could not be blamed. They look reliable but don't last long on suction.
