Review on ๐Ÿ„ PRYM 611266 Darning Mushroom: Essential Single Piece for Perfect Darning by Morgan Gilmore

This darning mushroom is better than eggs

I had to darn the heel of a pair of expensive wool socks to make them last longer. I googled to learn how to do it and found a tutorial video on YouTube. So I went to a local sewing shop and found the right darning needle and fine wool thread, but the only thing that could serve as a basis for sewing was a thin, undyed wooden spindle called an "egg". The price roughly corresponded to the total cost of this German mushroom, including airmail from Europe. This mushroom is better to stuff than a narrow egg. The wide curvature of the surface is not as sharp as that of an egg. It fits right into the sock. It's made from real wood, not plastic, has a smooth finish and is finished in an attractive red that's easy to find in a sewing kit along with other small items, and the fun, homey motif invites you to make something of it. This is reminiscent of the German tradition of making wooden toys for Christmas, although they are actually made in China. Precisely machined tolerances between stem and base ensure precise fit and easy assembly.
