Good news / bad news Product

Please do not think that I am criticizing this product, I am not. It's well made and easy to use, but it has limitations for my use. Not being an electrical engineer, I didn't try to diagnose the problem I was having. I haven't contacted tech support either, as it's a sealed, standalone system with almost nothing that can be done. Background: I bought this product to create an image copy of my NAS backup drive for external storage. The time required to copy the image must be less than 24 hours in order to have the backup drive ready for the evening NAS backup process. The source and target drives are identical Seagate 8TB Ironwolf SATA drives. The source disk currently contains 1,995 TB of data. As described, I had expected a transfer rate of 6 GB per minute. What I found was completely different. I initiated a disk image copy and the initial transfer speed was what I expected. After an hour of work, I calculated that copying the image would take a total of 7.5 hours. It was slower than expected but within my needs. After 8 hours I check again, the copy is not complete. I've recalculated the expected completion time and it's estimated to be around 20 hours of total execution time. But that wasn't true either. As a result, it took 42 hours and 49 minutes to copy just 2TB of data. 2TB of data is only 25% of the approximate capacity of 8TB (yes, I'm using round numbers). Obviously this didn't fit my time requirements. My observation is that as the amount of data remaining decreased, the time it took to copy each GB increased. Conclusion: If you don't have a time limit or the amount of data to copy is less than 250 GB, then this is a great product. However, if you want the drives to be freed and ready to use by a certain time, I would recommend looking for an alternative solution. No, I don't have it yet.
