I used to use RCA's 4-port S-Video but got crazy amounts of staggered whiteboards on it was a TV screen (36" Sony Trinitron XBR) and it was very frustrating to see this on really good systems. I think the problem was with the internal grounding of this jack because with the combined Svideo and and AV sockets sends a partial signal to the Svideo cable and a partial signal to the AV cable online I'm glad I did this, not only because I can now connect 8 devices, but also because the checkerboard is gone .To be honest depending on the console/system as far as I can tell the difference in visual quality between AV and Svideo is minimal and not having to mess with a chess board this thing is worth it! I have ei n image attached to an overview located in the middle of some of the consoles I have connected to it. Currently 8 consoles are connected to it: Sega Saturn, Sega Genesis/CD/32X, Panasonic 3DO, Nintendo 64, Playstation 1, Sega Dreamcast, Atari Jaguar/Jaguar CD and Philips CD-I. Most of them output with AV like this unit vs Svideo, some I've had cables basically the same which means it looks just as good but now I don't have offset boards. Svideo video is often sharper with better blacks around the edges and AV is more washed out/blurred and has more color bleed but I can live with that and am really happy with this current product. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who needs to hook up multiple consoles to a TV that only has 4 inputs!
