This is an overview of the NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1900 Cable Modem Router with 2 Voice Lines for XFINITY (C7100V). I have Comcast Blast internet service that is not usually available. I have 150 Mbit/s (measured with speedtest.net). However, I still found surfing the web (even with WIRED connections) to be FUN - each new page usually took 2-4 seconds to be fully drawn - who has time for that?! I just assumed that this performance would be as good as it was in 2017 ("zzzzzzzzzzz") and to be honest, when I ordered this modem it never occurred to me that it would improve the performance of my web experience on the WIRED network. Links. Boy was I wrong. As soon as I started this modem, the difference was immediately apparent. Websites now appear the same way TV ads do - instantly! This is going to change my life (so called) and I'm already diving deeper into websites because I don't have an unconscious fear of slowly drawing with each new click. Speedtest.net is now showing more than 280 downloads, but the difference in browsing performance seems proportionately much faster than this number suggests compared to the previous 150. Wi-Fi signals seem proportionally faster and certainly have adequate range for my medium-sized double-decker house (with a modem in a corner of the house). installation was a breeze. DO NOT CALL COMCAST - I just went to xfinity.com/activate and with 2 clicks and a reboot I was up and running (internet and phone) - almost unbelievable! The router management utility is well designed - easy to navigate and seems to have all the functionality I (a fairly tech savvy user) could possibly need. Sure this box isn't cheap, but the new speed makes me feel like I've jumped 5 years into the future. So it's worth $300 to me, especially since I'll be paying that amount back in 30 months in Comcast rent! Additive. Everything still works fine, but I found that Comcast's "Stream TV" service wasn't working - their system thought I was NOT on my home network, so some TV channels weren't showing. So I had to call Comcast (Ew!) and spend an hour of my life telling them to register MAC addresses. After they finally did it, it worked. So the internet may not suck anymore, but Comcast still sucks :).
