I have a restless reptilian friend who tosses and turns throughout the night, makes a lot of noise and gets grumpy during the day. I use the red heater at night and when I switched her to this non-light emitting bulb she now sleeps through the night. I would recommend getting those cage protectors that cover the bulb when it's in the terrarium. UPDATE 4/2/20 I wasn't kidding when I said this thing is hot. This is a safety reminder, not a complaint. I was working in my skink tank and accidentally placed a lamp with a ceramic bulb face down on a wooden shelf. It was on a timer and turns on at 7. I work 3-10 and when I got home I felt better because a low-level smoke alarm went off. I thought I wasn't, so I took my time. As I got closer to the door the alarm got louder and when I opened the door the top half of my entire house was filled with smoke. At the time I couldn't figure out where it came from. After 40 min. Climbing up my attic, among other things, finally made me realize that it was. Now I'm an idiot so once again this is no blow to the product. That works great. Just be careful where you set it.
