As a headphone collector ranging from cheap $5 junk to a few hundred bucks of professional reference/audiophile studio headphones (Sennheiser, Hifiman, Audio Technica, etc.), I am very happy with these headphones. The sound was the biggest surprise. They have a bright (high-end emphasizing) sound signature with good bass quality that doesn't bleed into the mids. Unlike most cheaper headphones, the bass isn't overdone, it's there where it's supposed to be. I would describe the overall sound as powerful, lively and happy. For less than $14, I was very surprised at how good they sound. and the comfort isn't bad either (just note that they sit on your ear if that's an issue for you, but it really shouldn't be a huge issue, if at all). Let's get back to sound quality and emphasis on high frequencies. As previously mentioned, the general consensus is that after firing (roughly 40 hours of use), the highs soften. I use a "flat" setting on my EQ to smooth them out and I'm very happy with how they respond. In comparison, I own Audio Technica ATH-M50X headphones and love them, but the comfort and convenient size of the JVC Flats and their fun sound signature make me return to them often. Build quality (including an inner metal bail with secure click adjustment) is also surprisingly good at this price point. In terms of value for money, here are my ratings: Workmanship: 9/10 Comfort: 8/10 Sound: 9/10 I was expecting around a 7/10 overall, so you can see why this review is so deservedly positive is. Again, my estimates are based on the price I paid. If they cost $100 these ratings would be significantly lower, but it's foolish to rate products outside of their price range. Overall, these are great headphones that all deserve 5 stars. If they were twice the price I'd still easily recommend them, but they're under $15 for a full day so buy them and enjoy!
