I updated this review but it failed? You can tinker with it, but these are the smallest and most important points. If you're buying to replace your curved electric pump, it shouldn't be curved, at least not on curved models like the 550E and 565E. However, you can play around with it enough to get it there. But you have to make compromises. First, it's too short! To lengthen the inlet end, we'll tighten 3 to 4 inch rubber bike tubing. Then we put in a plastic cap that fitted the end of the removed cap perfectly to keep it from collapsing so it was an open cylinder. It fits perfectly on the bottom end of the inner tube to avoid tube breakage. Yes, go to a hardware store to find the perfect clear plastic/vinyl tubing if they sell it. So eventually it worked when the toilet was flushed in and the added hose reached the bottom of the water tank. The downside and BIG problem is that you can no longer open the lid or seat of the toilet yourself. Or close the back cover to hide the inlet and new pump. So if you still need it or think you might need it. These are ideas that work like a hack. 1) A back vanity cover is needed to hold the lid and lid in place. This acts as a kind of friction disk for the seat cover and the seat itself. The seat cover can be removed and left where it is. Leaving the lid and seat in place means you can't lift them together anyway, so something must be loosening. I take off the cover and get out of the seat. A woman is not a problem for me. If necessary, I can clean the toilet with the seat down. I put the lid back on to transport the toilet and when camping I remove the lid when I'm there. Of course, you'll need to place the vanity top (a small rectangular piece) back on your back to hold the seat securely in place. An alternative option would be to cut an oval hole in the seat cover and unfortunately the seat itself so you can lift it. both up. That's too far for me. I bought it primarily for myself and as a woman I have the flexibility to work around this issue without cosmetic damage to the actual seat or its cover. The thread that works on the models was made to fit a variety of ottomans that are shorter and hold less water. This is not good at all. So when you pull the handle to inflate, the whole pump wants to go up as well. You can probably come up with something neat DIY to solve this problem yourself. I try to use teflon tape to ensure some friction fit so it stays in place during use and during shipping. Now there are two more options. One is to search Google for a suitable replacement which is sold here in the UK by Revain but is not sold in the US to date. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Thetford-Porta-Outdoor-Piston-available/dp/B00PJEOQNO They no longer ship to the US but did when I first posted this review over 7 months ago. The right model is long enough that you don't need to attach a hose to the suction end to get to the bottom of the fresh water tank. Having already bought this on this site I decided to get it working for half the price of a UK order. My husband will try to assemble a new battery for the e-pump as it was a battery. Packaging that fell off and unfortunately arrived as a broken part but took a year to fully detach. I just didn't realize it wasn't all bad quality and had no idea it wasn't meant to be. I hope they print an updated review this time. I give it 3 stars because it works for the models it was designed for. But my model is a 550e and the newer model is a 650e and that's not what it's for and the seller didn't make it clear when they said it fits 550s. Not all, that's for sure. Not without fuss and patience to do it. If we can fix the electronic pump with a new battery we'll stick with it, if not I'll probably buy this item from England because it allows me to raise and lower both the seat and its cover and also put the auxiliary cover back on the right one Position. It is a bit difficult to remove the original pump and put in the new one. There is a hose that you also need to attach to the hole where water flows into the toilet. Don't drop this hose unless you have small hands, it can be difficult to grab again even with pliers long enough to reach it. I had no problems, but my husband was always worried. Now I have cleaned and dried it for winter storage. And the electric pump will run this winter as a later project. It doesn't matter that this piston pump is running. I can also decide that a large spray bottle and a liter of water is good for rinsing and keeping clean. (I use those little rolls of tissue paper I bought when I bought the toilet to keep the bowl clean during use. It sits at the bottom of the bowl and the next time you dump waste or urine, the paper protects the bowl falling into the bottom black water tank.I can't find the bowl protector anymore.Luckily I bought two boxes of 100.These should last a while but they don't work as well as you'd like so probably won anyway. don't buy again but if anyone is interested this is an idea maybe someone can think of something to add to keep their closet clean I got it working like but not perfect or ideal .
