I think these buds will go away on their own with a cheap headphone amp and free apps like Noozxoide EIZO-rewire™ PRO to pull things up. In terms of value, these buds are incredible. The cables do not dangle in the ears like the IEM and are comfortable for sleeping. With a sensitivity of 115 dB, these headphones can sound as loud as a telephone jackhammer. I think the added voltage of the $20 amp makes them shine at low volumes, raising the soundstage and clarifying the bass. Obviously they won't replace your planars, but they will blow your mind compared to that $40 Sony headphone set you bought at Walmart 5 years ago.
