These were bags with foam corners. The top has a hanging hook on each side that raises it above the depth of the hooks (maybe 1/4 inch) so it can't be hung sideways or upside down. I only used one nail at a time and balanced it in the middle. They aren't heavy enough for two nails and I didn't want to drill as many holes in the wall. It seems to me that the product appears larger in the photo than it really is. But actually, as the description says, it's only a foot wide, which is perfect for my needs. I bought three to climb the stairs. It might be suggested to buy several if they will be placed in a larger area.
