We have hard water and use a water softener, but we bought this because where we live they don't have distilled water for our humidifier. The stores here can't stock distilled water because people use these ridiculous CPAP machines. Distilled water is expensive and these filters fill the need. I would recommend that they keep your Air Innovation humidifier in good working order.
