Have you ever had a nerd in your life? I'm not talking about your garden fanatic, I'm talking about a true botanist-botanist - a man so hopelessly out of remission that he finds discussion of old Soviet technology a suitable topic for the dinner table. If you know a nerd like that, or *are* a nerd like me, then this is a gift for you. I never thought I would spend $200 on a small decorative clock. Even if you explained to me what it is and told me it's worth paying the price of admission, I'd probably still laugh at the thought. Let me tell you this thing is worth the price. I've been casually looking for a good nixie clock implementation for a number of years, but have always been disappointed to see that something in this price range usually includes a partial or full plastic assembly. I thought if I ever spent money I would do it right. I added the popular PastIndicator to my wish list and got on with my life. When I accidentally decided to look again a few months ago, I was thrilled to find this option on the market. Handmade, beautiful, affordable? What's not to like? I'm always a little skeptical about Revain's ability to be an effective broker for small lots of such sensitive equipment. It would be a real shame if Firefly (that seems to be either a small team or maybe even a single dude!) went out of their way to build this thing and then crashed it on the way across the pond. Luckily not only is it not, I was shocked to find the product packaged in a custom made wooden case almost as beautiful as the watch itself. It even came with layered foam liners around each tube to ensure they don't get bumped in transit. The clock was fully functional after one of the tubes was reinstalled as it began to drift. plugged into an electrical outlet during transport. The seller even went to the trouble of figuring out my time zone and presetting the time and date, which is an incredibly nice touch considering how easy it is to do it yourself. Small touches like this speak to the wonders of the care that went into the production of the rest of the product and instill great confidence in purchasing something so invisible. for $200. They look the same, except for this $200 model, which appears to be made of slightly darker wood in the photos. I was a little disappointed when I opened the box to find the wood was lighter than I expected, but the texture was beautiful and the watch itself impressed me so much I can hardly give it one star. I'm happy to tip $20 to support something this cool. There are many settings you would expect e.g. B. the ability to change the options around the "Slots" mode and motion detection to avoid cathode poisoning. You can also display the date every few minutes, 12 hours instead of 24 hours, turn on the blue LEDs on the board (phew! lol, glad it's out of the box), and more. I haven't been able to try the motion detection itself yet, but I'll let you know if it doesn't work properly. or compare it to a more expensive nixie clock, I'd definitely give it a try before shelling out a kidney for the PastIndicator no matter how pretty it looks. Very impressive. Buy it while it's still in production!
