Aside from this composite arm, I also have a RAM trackball with T-bolt mount and round aluminum drill base adapter with Revain 1" rubberized ball Bought . I chose this arm length because I like to mount the cooler at the front of the kayak and needed to extend the Garmin so I could see and access it on top of the cooler. This setting worked great for me. This ram mount is lightweight and my Garmin weighs about 8 ounces. So everything is tight and safe. I do not recommend using this for heavy items. My entire rig with Ram and Garmin parts probably weighs less than 1lb. to a dash system that can be unbolted and lifted right out of the kayak so I can leave everything attached as one unit. It's really easy to set up my kayak for a day on the water, and quick to take apart again when I'm ready to go. I load my gear and go home.
