I bought this without much hope that it would be a quality product based on the low price. Turns out, this is a GREAT example of a pro grade octo softbox and I expect to be using this years from now. I haven't seen the Elinchrom Rotalux in person, but I will speculate that you don't get that much more for the extra $250 or so.The EZ Pro is built like a tank with a fold-out umbrella type construction, but much more sturdy that any umbrella. It has a strong, steel case frame and comes with an integrated speedring. It is a bit on the heavy side, but not so heavy it won't work on your standard light stand. It has a "Beauty Dish" plastic refelctor thing that slides onto the shaft inside, supposedly to allow only refelcted light from your strobe head to bounce throught the two layers of diffusion. I don't know whether this little dish makes any difference, but it is a little bonus I guess. There is an inner and front diffuser included with the octobox and both install with velcro tabs. One slight drawback as that both diffusers must be removed and stowed when the softbox is broken down for location work. You can't fold it up with them in place. At least not with the beauty dish in place. Maybe wihtout this plastic disk you could dismantle the softbox and leave the diffusers - I'll try it next time.Bottom line: The EZ Pro softboxes appear to be a great deal for the money. Lots of quality and bang for the buck.
