A friend and I have tried several cheap comforters over the past few years. We never gave them much thought and were never impressed afterwards. I grew up with a duvet and have very fond memories of this duvet. I haven't experienced the comfort and warmth since I moved in and got my own blanket. So it's been in the back of my mind ever since, but I wasn't sure I wanted to spend that kind of money on a duvet and also deal with the hassle of dry cleaning. In addition, by purchasing a duvet, we support the industry that mines goose down, which we personally did not want to support. For all of these reasons, we went in search of an alternative down. The first thing that made me doubt these products was the price, they seem TOO cheap. I grew up with the mantra "You get what you pay for" and with that in mind I was very tired looking at these products. I always compare many different products and read reviews, both good and bad, before I buy anything. I decided to risk this one as it received the highest customer rating and I liked what I saw in the pictures provided by this customer. However, the price was low enough that if I didn't like it I didn't worry. Now I wasn't really at home when it arrived, but my girlfriend confirmed that it came out of the box very flat, as expected. When I got home 2-3 hours later he seemed completely fluffy. The material it is made of is very soft and pleasant to the touch and I was pleasantly surprised by its thickness/fluffiness. This is a fairly light blanket, similar to a duvet in that regard. I've only slept in it one night so far, but it's kept me warm. I live in Wisconsin and temperatures this week have ranged from -10 at night to single digits during the day. I used 2 duvets before getting this one and sometimes I still wake up at night feeling cold. But so far this blanket alone has kept me warm, which again was a pleasant surprise. I have to say it doesn't really remind me of my duvet and I think it might have something to do with the material used in the shell. And you can't 100% recreate a duvet without down. So if you're looking for something that feels exactly like down and aren't satisfied otherwise, this may not be for you. However, if you are looking for a quality, warm, fluffy and affordable duvet that gives you that "cloudy" feeling, I think you will be very satisfied with this duvet. Night I can't comment on the strength or durability of this blanket but I hope it will hold up over time. ** Our cats also fell in love with it straight away, it's their new favorite place to sleep.
