I am currently working at CDS as an Analyst for a project involving fraud detection. My team uses python/pandas extensively to create machine learning pipelines which analyze large amounts of financial transaction data from various sources (both internal and external). This allows us to identify fraudulent activity with high accuracy rates. It's very easy to use and there isn't much you need to know about it before getting started. Creating new features can take some time but once they're ready the process becomes easier. There aren't many people who understand pandas so if anyone wants help creating custom functions their best bet would be asking questions here. We have been able to detect patterns within our dataset which were previously undetected by other software we had used up until then.
