Nearby on the table is the same Logitech M220 mouse bought 2 years ago, it is "silent" on all 3 buttons, as stated by the manufacturer 2 years ago. Obvious manufacturer defect. Return and reorder. If the next ordered Logitech "silent" mouse also crackles, then now the manufacturer sells only defective products under the guise, well, scroll "it's not a button!"
