Terrible staying power

I have THICK wavy/curly hair. I probably bought a pack of about 30 mixed black/brown/white/pink hair ties in 2015-16 and only recently ran out. I bought them because I love that they are all brown just like my hair. They can stretch, but not too much or they will tear immediately. I've had this pack since July 21st and I've already made 6 of them. 2 or 3 broke the first time I used them, others I used in pairs. I will not buy again.
