This summer I've been to several national parks in Utah where it's VERY hot. I bought them, washed them and tested them at home. At first it leaked because I didn't screw the straw all the way in, but then I did and it was NOT leaking, which is important. Another big question for me is will this have a gross plastic taste OR change the taste of the water and NO I'm happy to say that. We added ice, but it's inconvenient to put ice and water in without spilling. I suggest the manufacturer put a handle on top to avoid splashing when filling. The black screw cap is a bit awkward to put on and you need to be sure it is done perfectly or it will leak. Make several attempts. These were my first hydration packs and they are well worth the price, even this low price is great for two packs. Defects? The water in the straw is heated, when it is hot, after you drink it, some water will remain inside. So I'm sure it's doable. Adding ice is my advice to keep the water cool. Kind regards!
