Review on 🛠️ J-B Weld 2130 Vinyl & Leather Repair Kit by Sirious Cavalli

I wasn't quite sure what to expect from a leather/vinyl/dash repair product. Ratings for many brands and types of repair kits ranged from the best to the bad whale crap. I have used JB Weld products in the past and they have always worked flawlessly, so I ordered a JB Weld 2130 kit to repair my cracked and worn 1979 Fiat X1/9 dashboard. Being knee deep in a full X1/9 restoration, the reconditioned dash was removed from the car and the repair kit used in a dry heated garage. Vinyl repair silicone is quite thick but will flow a little to smooth out any slight creases or burrs on first application. There are a few things I would recommend when using this (and probably similar kits): Use a single-edged plastic blade (or similar) or a small (1 inch or so) flexible plastic applicator to apply the vinyl repair compound. The included applicator is very thin, narrow and fragile. It (the included applicator) also limits the quality of your silicone repair. I also recommend wiping the repair site thoroughly with alcohol (according to the instructions). One thing to note is the curing time, around 24 hours. I suspect the quality and cure time will vary with temperature and humidity. Now for the results. In a word, impressive. I applied the compound and let it dry as directed. Some shrinkage, will probably need a second coat. However, for the second layer, I used the included texture paper to match the texture of my dash. I used masking tape to ensure the texture of the paper made good contact with the second application of repair compound. I'm not sure if this is required for good results but I didn't think it would cause any problems so I wrote it down. The results were very good and much better than I expected. For the price of a repair kit from JB Weld I decided to give it a try before spending the money to order a professionally restored dashboard. I'm glad I did! The quality of the repair achieved was good enough to meet my very high standards. The colors included in the kit can be combined for more colors. I was able to get the dash matched just fine, although I plan to paint and glue the dash to give it a more finished look. In my experience, at least, this is not necessary for great results.
