We have an extremely useful and easy to use tool that will find a place in any hobbyist or DIY enthusiast's desk drawer or tool box. These pages are filled with gauges for a different type of caliper, ranging from cheap to sophisticated, which is basically an electronic version of standard dial gauges that have been around for years. Typically they are designed to measure things from paper to a foot or so thick. They are good but a bit big to carry around all the time. This one serves a similar but different purpose and I think owning both suits my needs very well. The biggest advantage is that it's pocket-sized, which comes with the main limitation that it can only measure a little less than about half an inch. thick. I don't really see this as a limitation, in fact it helps keep the metering ability more accurate. Where this device shines is in measuring things like the thickness of paper or cardboard, or thin plastic sheeting. multipurpose. There is a power button, a button to switch from decimal point to millimeters and a zero calibration button. It works by pulling the trigger back, inserting an object between the anvil and the piston, and releasing the trigger to allow the spring to apply constant tension. Nothing is perfect and there are a few small things I don't care about, not the least of which is that I find it difficult to comfortably hold it in one hand to be able to pull the lever, measure stuff and read the display all at the same time. I wouldn't say it's a big deal, it would have to be a completely different shape to suit everyone's preferences and if I were going to use it for a professional application I probably wouldn't choose something that costs less than fifteen Dollar. . which, by the way, is a steal considering how well made it is. YES OR NO. I have had very few thickness gauges that allow you to convert from millimeters to inches so easily and that is very important if they are to be useful. This on top of all the other features makes it a yes for me. Note that like many other imported products, dozens of them look the same, or almost the same. I suspect many of them are made in the same factory and sold to different people. Some are more expensive and some are cheaper. They may or may not be the same, I can only speak to the one I have. I like it and I think it's worth it.
