Look at the pictures and learn how to properly disassemble the device. DO NOT twist the screwdriver, but pry it down while pressing the button with your other hand. If you rotate the knob 45º, you can release the screwdriver and push the knob assembly all the way out. You won't break the retaining clip if you do it this way. No need for hard power. And use a smaller screwdriver as shown in the picture to avoid damaging the clip. It should slide effortlessly into the slot.
