Review on Efficient Drain Protection for Showers & Tubs: πŸ›€ OXO Good Grips Silicone Shower & Tub Drain Protector by Jamal Sandridge

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The only one I've found that works for popup drains.

It took me too long to find this product - I've never had pop up strips before and it took me a lot of trial and error to find the right drain cover. My partner and I both have long hair and while we do our best to contain/collect the shower drains, the shower drain in our current apartment clogs every 2-4 weeks. It was always the hair, and while it wasn't difficult to fix, it was always extremely embarrassing to brush. We've never had that many problems, but we've also never had this type of drain. I'm not a fan. The 'pop up' part was always closed during the shower so we removed it and left the drain fully open. We spent a lot of time trying to find a suitcase that was a) functional and b) suitable. I gave up when this came up on my "recommended for you" list. Thank you Revan We've only had him for two weeks, but I'm a big fan of his. As others have said, it stays in place, catches an unreasonable amount of hair (although we both always catch what we can) and is easy to clean. The only gripe I have is that the lip on the rim creates a slight reserve for drainage, but that's negligible compared to the ankle-deep water we'd get if the drain got clogged AGAIN. I brush all my hair right after I shower - this keeps the hair from getting crusted (rough) and draining the remaining water (which keeps the tub cleaner longer)

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Is OK
