Need long neck and body straps

The length of this one is long (neck to tail) but the length of the straps is quite short (at least for size XS). I have two 6 lb dogs that have different body sizes (1 lean and 1 full). The straps barely reached my skinny dog and didn't fit my fatter dog. The included velcro is nice and strong but because so much of it is exposed it scratches me every time I pick up and carry the dog. I'm wondering if I should return it and get a small one or if I should just fix the straps (+ velcro) myself somehow. 4 stars for material and length (neck to tail), minus 1 star for strap. Update - It has shrunk significantly after washing and drying. The straps no longer fit my 6 lb dog.
