The device has now been in use for a few weeks and works well. The second monitor for Mac could not be connected directly to the iMac with a DisplayPort to Thunderbird cable because it was using too much power. Worked well with an old laptop. Therefore, a powered docking station was required. I wasn't looking for other features but being a docking station I had to choose one with features for the price. I decided to use the newer USB 3.1 standard. SD card slots are good. The combo mic/speaker input works well with wired Apple headphones on a Mac (both speakers and mic). The decisive factor was the availability of the display port and the nice features mentioned. The only issue with the unit I had was that I thought it was dead on arrival because it wasn't obvious what was required to turn the unit on. It turns out that you need to hold down the power button for about 3 seconds. Maybe it's in the manual, but I haven't seen it. It wasn't obvious if it had an on indicator either, if I had any doubts about the power supply or the device. Manual polling helped find the LED, but didn't last for 3 seconds (maybe it was there). After the power on problem was fixed, the device worked fine.
