Review on πŸ”’ LockNLube Fittings: Unbeatable, Best Selling, Long Lasting & Rebuildable Solution by Mark Holloway

Good idea in concept, not so good in reality

First, we have a ranch, so we have a lot of gear that needs oiling. Most have at least one hard-to-reach fitting, often resulting in a mess because the coupler doesn't fit securely. The worst is our Snokat with 26 grease nipples on the axles and transmission. None of them are easily accessible and most of them are "blind". I was hoping that this locking coupler would help reduce the amount of grease that doesn't get into the fitting and make locking the coupler a little easier. I just serviced a Snokat and found the following: 1) This fitting is larger in both length and diameter than a standard connector and does not work in tight spaces; Loosening the pin contributes to this problem; The trigger handle has a fairly stiff spring. Therefore, when hands are oily and clearance is limited, holding it open and putting the clutch on the DSLR armature is almost impossible. although the coupling is "snapped” onto the fitting; When working with a "blind" fitting, the surface of the connector is flat so you can't feel when you put it on the fitting, and the jaws are too hard to hold open for very long; if it's not quite straight, fat will flow out; Without a hose swivel (which LockNLube sells) you have to twist your grease gun all over the place to open the coupler and sometimes loosen due to the large spring handle. After wrestling with this 26 times yesterday, I'm back with a solid 4 shoe "standard" clutch. I'll save it, it will suddenly come in handy, but in general it didn't help me.

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • Some bugs
