I could not make a straight cut with this machine. If you cut a piece of paper in half and then join the two cuts together, it becomes apparent that they don't even match in size and the cut isn't straight. The difference in width between the two pieces is greater at one end than the other, suggesting the paper was cut at a specific angle. I've tried several methods to compensate for this, to no avail. The marked dimensions are difficult to distinguish because they are very wide and far from the point of contact with the paper. The slippery surface causes the paper to move (or feel like it is moving) when the blade is lifted. Since the cost of this trimmer is above average for such devices, I recommend buyers to look elsewhere. Note that it's also not self-sharpening and the light won't help align the paper as it's not bright enough.
