I don't know why but three of the four toner cartridges I bought failed either immediately or within a day of installation. Some of these seemed perfect at first, with no installation issues, but then suddenly failed with a "remove cartridge and inspect" error, usually due to poor electrical contact or a broken track on the mylar carriage. but the printer does not have this problem. One of them appeared to be the result of the contacts on the cartridge either being completely oxidized, simply worn out, or completely melted to plastic. To refill it yourself an original HP sticker showed underneath so I assume they only refill OEM cartridges regardless of age or possibly previously refilled status which would explain why some of them seem to fail right away . Whether they work or not and how long they can be linked to the date set on the printer, so those who did a factory reset without updating the date might be in luck. I think I'll just buy some OEM new or some used from stock and then make my own CIS system from those with good quality inks. If that doesn't work I will try replacing the mylar or carriage in my printer. If the situation improves in any way other than replacing the cartridges I will go back and review this product taking into account these hardware changes as it would indicate that the fault was with my own machine and not the product. .
