Review on 🔒 Rectorseal SS3 Safe T Switch 97647 by Michael Morgan

I originally thought of using this switch as a first line of defense. It won't work, so it can only add drainage holes. Basically, there are flaws in American HVAC design in the secondary drain pan. The sump is shallow, meaning any meaningful water detection and drainage requires "enough" depth. To make matters worse, this float breaks the chain by moving half an inch, meaning the best way to set the switch would involve touching the bottom of the pan. The clamp that comes with it sets the switch too high, so I have to flatten the metal clamp and drill holes to install it. Since stainless steel is difficult to drill, I ended up using two clipper tips as the drilling point, slightly setting this switch from bottom to top. The good news is that the bottom of the pan is filled with debris from the attic, so removing it from the floor can help reduce false alarms. It all depends on how you want it to work. So this switch is set too high so it only works after the secondary drain hose is blocked instead of detecting if there is water in the sump.
